Trump Orchestrated Cruz's Flop
If button-down Mitt Romney had been the nominee at this week’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland, could you imagine him allowing the same litany of attacks on Hillary Clinton, especially when Democrat-supporting media pundits were crying foul?
Never.
But this convention is no ordinary convention, because Donald Trump is no ordinary candidate — and that’s why he’s the Republican nominee.
In fact, RNC 2016, like his entire campaign, is Donald Trump’s contravention.
Instead of trying to appease liberals and establishment Republicans with a “safe” VP pick, Trump chose Mike Pence, who describes himself as Christian, conservative, and Republican, in that order.
Moreover, he invited his chief opponent and nemesis, Ted Cruz, to address the delegates on Wednesday, in prime time, the same night Pence spoke. Was this smart?
It was masterful.
Cruz committed professional suicide. He accepted the invitation and, in an act of predictable self-aggrandizement, generically admonished the American electorate to “vote your conscience” in November.
The delegates in the Quicken Loans Arena, who had cheered his ascension to the stage just 23 minutes earlier, booed Cruz off of it for snubbing Trump.
In my opinion, Trump, who had an advance copy of Cruz’s speech, anticipated and relished this disaster — but not an outcry so ferocious that security guards had to escort Heidi Cruz from the building.
Trump knows that Republicans badly want and need a victory this time, and believe he’s the guy who, finally, has the guts and gravitas to win.
They’ve watched McCain and Romney lose to Obama, Republican legislators promise and fail to repeal Obamacare, and judges in state and federal courts, and justices on the Supreme Court, thumb their noses at the Constitution.
Many unassailable conservatives talk a good game and can cite constitutional passages and cases. But, they cannot lead, cannot effect change, and cannot stop the growth of government and the shrinkage of liberty.
So, if Trump isn’t the model conservative, they don’t care. He is their final hope to save America, lest it suffer irreversible decline. And, that’s why the delegates expressed such enmity toward Cruz.
Throughout the week, speaker after speaker, including Trump’s loyal and talented family, roused the delegates to support the Constitution; law and order; the return of their individual freedoms, wealth, and national pride — and their nominee, who palpably loves his country and its citizens.
Contrast that with what most assuredly will emanate from the Democratic National Convention next week in Philadelphia: Hillary Clinton and her cadre of disdainful progressives will spew victimhood, social injustice, race, abortion, open borders, wealth-bashing, and paternalistic government as the cure-all.
Finally, Donald Trump, who rose from private citizen to nominee in 13 months, confounding the “experts” who called him a sideshow, closed the RNC with a memorable, authoritative, hope-inspiring 76-minute oration.
True to his singular style of contravention, he comingled themes of protection and protectionism, peace and prosperity, toughness and tenderness.
He’s now the talk of the world. Ted Cruz has become an asterisk and Hillary Clinton a second-class rival.
When he left the arena with his family, amidst the cascade of balloons and confetti, there was little doubt — even at MSNBC — that Trump is in charge, is the next commander in chief, and will make America great again.

As with all Trump productions, there was showmanship and plenty of self-promotion and the American people loved it. Ratings skyrocketed with over 22 million Americans tuned in to the GOP Cleveland convention on a daily basis.

GOP Delegates Boo Ted Cruz for Refusing to Endorse Trump
Update: A Cruz supporter told Breitbart News: “I think it was entirely selfish. I think he’s ruined his future. Everybody was right about him. It’s a character thing.”
Another attendee described Cruz’s address as a “slap in the face” and “toying with the convention.”
Reactions were even harsher behind the scenes. Dana Bash of CNN reports that Cruz entered a donor suite at the arena after the speech, and was told, to his face, that he was a “disgrace.” One man was so angry at Cruz that he had to be “physically restrained,” and Heidi Cruz had to be escorted from the convention floor because of heckling by Trump delegates.

If there is one thing we know for certain about Hillary, it is that as president she would preside over an inept and America-destructive foreign policy.
WHY WE MUST ELECT DONALD TRUMP
Some people think that Hillary Clinton, for all her corruption, is at least smarter than Barack Obama. Others observe her ruthlessness toward political opponents and infer that, unlike Obama, she will be a tough defender of American interests. No: for goodness’ sake, the woman has a four-year history as Secretary of State! If there is one thing we know for certain about Hillary, it is that as president she would preside over an inept and America-destructive foreign policy.
And, to put the most charitable construction on her words, the woman is an idiot. Andy McCarthy records, and places in context, Hillary’s first comment on the latest terrorist attack in France:
Let’s be clear: Islam is not our adversary. Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.
We simply cannot afford another four years of such mind-numbing stupidity in the White House. Donald Trump has many faults as a presidential candidate. You don’t need me to list them for you. But he is not Hillary Clinton, he is not committed to a view of the world’s dangers that is almost literally insane, and he will not give us a third Obama term in either domestic or foreign policy. He also won’t appoint people like Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the Supreme Court. Our next president will be either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton; we desperately need for it to be Trump. He deserves, and badly needs, our financial support.

Controversy has surrounded the Clinton family for decades now. Whether its sex scandals, war crimes or financial shadiness, the family seems generally corrupt by all accounts.
But perhaps the eeriest realization surrounding the Clintons is the staggering amount of those who have worked closely with them dying under mysterious — even suspicious — circumstances. Much like holistic health doctors who threatened to expose Big Pharma, there are too many red flags to discredit these untimely deaths as mere coincidences.
Starting in the early 1990s, many people who could potentially unveil secrets about the family have wound up dead. From James McDougal, Hillary’s convicted partner at Whitewater, to Suzanne Coleman, the pregnant woman who was rumored to have had an affair with Bill, many people who cross the Clintons or do anything that could potentially ruin their reputations end up dying in peculiar ways.

In the summer of 2014 a lie overtook significant parts of the country and grew into a kind of mass hysteria. That lie holds that the police pose a mortal threat to black Americans—indeed, that the police are the greatest threat facing black Americans today. Several subsidiary untruths buttress that central myth: that the criminal-justice system is biased against blacks; that there is no such thing as a black underclass; and that crime rates are comparable between blacks and whites, so that disproportionate police action in minority neighborhoods cannot be explained without reference to racism. The poisonous effect of these lies manifested itself in the cold-blooded assassination of two NYPD officers in December that year. The highest reaches of American society promulgated those untruths and participated in the mass hysteria.

An election for President and Commander in Chief of the Military must strive to be above reproach. Our public institutions must give the public confidence that a presidential candidate has complied with the election process that is prescribed by our Constitution and laws. It is only after a presidential candidate satisfies the rules of such a process that he/she can expect members of the public, regardless of their party affiliations, to give him/her the respect that the Office of President so much deserves.
