Stupak Thumbs Nose At Tea Party
Will the real Bart Stupak please stand up.
Thursday Congressman Bart Stupak (D) Michigan 1st District announced his pending retirement from Congress after 9 terms. The reason Stupak gave for his planned move to leave public service was to spend more time with his wife.
After posing as a leader for pro life supporters, Stupak was the critical vote that tipped Congressional scales in favor of Obama Care. A Bill which provides public funding for abortions, presidential executive order to the contrary not with standing.
Stupak, has long been labeled a "blue dog" democrat, but was he? Are there any true blue dog democrats? I contend the Democrat votes that have crossed the aisle to side with the Republican minority have only occurred when their votes have had no change on the overall outcome. The Obama Care vote was a classic example. Thirty Four "blue dogs" crossed over, when 39 were needed to kill the bill. These slick willies believe their constituents will be fooled by this tactic and it will boost their chances for re-election.
Stupak and those like him are the worst of the bunch. These are leftist democrats to the core, passing themselves off as "blue dog" conservative democrats. These are the guerrilla politicians. They walk around Capitol Hill blending in, remaining in the shadows, drawing as little attention as possible, waiting for the right time to cast their ambush vote.
The Tea Party was gearing up to promote Stupak's opposition in the 2010 election. Stupak preempted that move by announcing his retirement. Guerrilla's have no staying power once they are exposed, 18 years of shadowy legislating, wasn't enough to build a support infrastructure. Once the populous took the true measure of the man, he lost their hearts and minds. After 18 years the voters of Michigan's upper peninsula 1st district decided fishing for walleyes, might ought to take a backseat to who they select to send to Washington. I hope they have learned, Congress is not a consolation prize or a job low man on the totem pole has to fill. Ice fishing isn't all that and a bag of chips.
Ever the class act, Stupak stated he is taking pleasure in draining the coffers of the Tea Party, in their now wasted efforts to remove him, because of his "voluntary" retirement
Stupak latest snide remark, should serve as a further reminder to harden our resolve to get this filth out of the People's House.
