How on earth would this "alleviate the tax burden?" Are you kidding me?? We need to ratify FairTax so the illegals currently in the country have to pay taxes. It also captures all of the tax cheats and finally makes transparent the true percentage that Americans are taxed.Mark as offensive

We need a more rational guest worker law. But a blanket legalization is not an answer. Send all the illegals back, and, if necessary, amend the Constitution to make it clear that the "anchor baby" ruse no longer works.Mark as offensive

Anyone that thinks the flat or"fair" tax is the answer read respected conservative Ramesh Ponnuru on the respected journal National Review online and let an educated conservative explain to you just how wrong you are. Mark as offensive

Why even have a system of immigration if all that will be done is to legalize all illegals every 20 years or so anyway? That kind of logic makes as much sense as saying you are a citizen as soon as your foot touches America. Don't worry whether you are a terrorist, carry incurable diseases, a drug lord, murderer, or rapist; here in America we accept you as you are. That is EXACTLY what this politburo is trying to do and say.Mark as offensive

to jgee There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between the flat and the fair tax. The flat is little to no improvement. The fair tax is fair and balanced. Just like the health care savings account system they both bypass the crooked greedy thugs. Never happen, when the thugs are making the rules for us to suffer and them to get filthy rich and powerful. Mark as offensive

All illegal workers should be put under the wings of a citizen to be monotored and guided as a parole officer type of help to keep things simple and fair. I know many very wonderful illegal persons that really want to succeed here and are living under great stress. Mark as offensive

How about everyone paying taxes? Is it about 50% of people pay no taxes anyway? I think some kind of equal transparent tax system would be fair. Why should one citizen pay more % than any other? Are we all not equal. If you are not a citizen you should not even be able to get a job here. Go home.Mark as offensive

I have personally picked several of the workers to monoter, support and encourage for several years and they are very happy and appreciative and most are becoming wonderful "citizens" that add greatly to our economy and our enjoyment. Of course there are the bad ones and this would expose them. We in this area of Ohio have 2 of the most beautiful and popular restaurants with the most wonderful people, (most illegal) adding to our economy and blessing us.Mark as offensive

My experience comes from living in a Chicago neighborhood that over the past 15 years has become primarily hispanic, and there is a vast difference between legal and illegal residents. Those here legally are hard working, learn the language, and make wonderful neighbors. Those here illegally are for the most part here for the benefits (yes, they apply and receive them), they believe we should speak their language, and because of the ridiculous bilingual program in the Chicago public schools that make them among the lowest scoring in the country, they pull down the quality of education for the entire school system. And let's face it, those who say illegals are not criminals are wrong. Last time I checked, if you break a federal law, you're a criminal. Amnesty of any kind is not the answer.Mark as offensive
