Did Daily KOS Incite Shooting?

Of course not. But, you may have heard some breathless liberal spreading the talking point about how Sarah Palin incited violence with her imagery of "crosshairs" on Gabrielle Giffords. Of course, Ms. Palin's crosshairs were on a map, but to hear the libs explain it, it was photos of politicians with the crosshairs superimposed. For the sake of clarity, here is the image in question:

Part of her "incendiary" rhetoric:
We’re going to fire them and send them back to the private sector...we’re going to print pink slips for members of Congress...

"Targeting" politicians for defeat is obviously code speak for "Please assassinate these people."

So, for your consideration, Markos Moulitsas and his "Bullseye" on Gabrielle Giffords:

Anyone care to point oout the hypocrisy in calling out Sarah Palin for inciting violence when the Left is doing virtually the same thing? Oh yeah. There's a world of difference between the image of a crosshair and a bullseye! /sarcasm

Trying to blame the horrific actions of Jared Lee Loughner on political rhetoric from either side of the aisle, is opportunistic pandering. The people whose knee jerk reaction was to blame Sarah Palin and the Tea Party and conservatives in general should be ashamed of themselves. Sadly, they have no shame.

  1. "Pink Slips" was the most incendiary Palin you could find?

From her "March Madness" facebook post:

"To the teams that desire making it this far next year: Gear up! In the battle, set your sights on next season’s targets! From the shot across the bow – the first second’s tip-off – your leaders will be in the enemy’s crosshairs, so you must execute strong defensive tactics. You won’t win only playing defense, so get on offense! The crossfire is intense, so penetrate through enemy territory by bombing through the press, and use your strong weapons – your Big Guns – to drive to the hole. Shoot with accuracy; aim high and remember it takes blood, sweat and tears to win.

Focus on the goal and fight for it. If the gate is closed, go over the fence. If the fence is too high, pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, parachute in. If the other side tries to push back, your attitude should be “go for it.” Get in their faces and argue with them. (Sound familiar?!) Every possession is a battle; you’ll only win the war if you’ve picked your battles wisely. No matter how tough it gets, never retreat, instead RELOAD!"

    - Sarah Palin

Most "gun" and "war words" were emphasized in Italics.

Her language is NOT responsible for this obviously troubled man's actions. However, you're avoiding the fact that she HAS used "fightin' words" to an extent that far surpasses a site like dailykos which you are attacking in this post ("put a bullseye on their DISTRICT") [empahsis mine].

  2. Kevin: The "pink slip" language was what she used on the post where she put up the map. In it's context, (the second paragraph)
"We’re going to reclaim the power of the people from those who disregarded the will of the people. We’re going to fire them and send them back to the private sector, which has been shrinking thanks to their destructive government-growing policies. Maybe when they join the millions of unemployed, they’ll understand why Americans wanted them to focus on job creation and an invigorated private sector. Come November, we’re going to print pink slips for members of Congress as fast as they’ve been printing money."

That provides the greater context for the map. Is it the most "incendiary" thing she's ever said? Not the point. The map was targets for pink slips. IMHO anyone who tried to make anything sinister or violent about this was either a moron or a liberal pundit (but, I repeat myself!)
