The Romney scandal: What did he cover up?

There is a scandal surrounding Mitt Romney.  If Newt Gingrich had done this, it would be headline news.  If Herman Cain had done it, it would be headline news.  If Michele Bachmann had done it, there would be calls for her resignation.

What is it?

As Mitt Romney was leaving office in 2007, he and his team took very elaborate steps to make sure that there would be no email record of what happened during his administration. 

First, from UPI:

E-mails from Mitt Romney's term as Massachusetts governor have vanished from public records in the state, interviews and records reveal.
The Boston Globe reported Thursday that just before Romney, a GOP presidential candidate, left the governor's office in 2007 and first ran for president, 11 top aides purchased their state-issued computer drives.
Romney administration officials had remaining computers in the governor's office replaced before Gov. Deval Patrick's staff took power in January 2007, leaving no electronic record of any Romney administration e-mails, Mark Reilly, Patrick's chief legal counsel, said.
The Globe said Patrick's office has been deluged with inquiries for records from the Romney administration.
"The governor's office has found no e-mails from 2002-2006 in our possession," Reilly said in a statement. "Before the current administration took office, the computers used during that time period were replaced and the server used during that time period was taken out of service, all files were removed from it and it was also replaced."

Top aides to the three Massachusetts governors who preceded Mitt Romney - all of them Republicans - said yesterday they know of no instance when state employees purchased their computer hard drive as they left the administration, as 11 of Romney’s aides did in 2006 as he was laying the groundwork for his first presidential campaign.
The aides from the administrations of William F. Weld, Paul Cellucci, and Jane Swift all said they were not aware of such purchases being made previously.
“I don’t remember anybody buying their hard drives. I don’t remember anybody buying anything,’’ said Stephen P. Crosby, who worked for Romney’s two predecessors and handled the transition between Jane Swift’s outgoing administration and Romney’s incoming one, and who was also co-chairman of Governor Deval Patrick’s budget and finance transition team. “I can’t even remember anybody discussing it. It certainly wasn’t [standard operating procedure] in any way. That’s almost unthinkable. It seems inherently a bad idea. You almost think you’d want to have a record of everything going on for the public.’’
Terry Dolan, who worked in six administrations and handled office transfers for many of them, said it was rare for departing employees to purchase state property - and unheard of for them to purchase computer equipment. 


This scandal, and there is no other word for it, is beyond belief.  There was a conspiracy among Mitt Romney’s top aides and probably Romney himself to make sure there was no record of the Romney administration that could be used against him when he decided he was going to run for President.

Romney was governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007.  Half way through his first term, he decided he was going to run for President and elected not to seek reelection as governor.   It was during the last half of his term that some of Romney’s major liberal accomplishments took place, including Romneycare.

Romney has made claims about his positions regarding Romneycare and other issues.  IT would be very interesting to see the inside thought processes of his administration, but that is not possible.

Why would Romney and his team wipe out all records?

It is obvious Romney did not want anyone to see what his administration did.

Why?

It is very simple.  Mitt Romney is a fraud.  He is the worst form of politician.  He will do anything or say anything to get elected.  In 1994, he ran against Ted Kennedy as a liberal, promising to be more liberal than Ted Kennedy.  

The Romney campaign, at least as of the time of writing this piece, had not answered the allegations.  Instead, they issued a silly statement blasting the Obama regime for being preoccupied with secrecy.

The question everyone needs to start asking Romney is what did he feel was so important to cover up that he had all of the emails from the Governor’s office deleted.

What did Romney cover up and why did he cover it up?
