That's One

Bitter tea for venerable West Texan
Looks like an old Republican warhorse is facing a West Texas sunset. The Associated Press is calling Tea Party candidate Charles Perry the winner over Delwin Jones in House District 83 out on the South Plains.

With 28 percent of the precincts counted, Perry has 57 percent of the vote. Jones, an 86-year-old Lubbock farmer, was first elected to the Texas Legislature in 1964 as a Democrat -- back when tea parties were confined to the Junior League, or Alice in Wonderland.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, as to how we go about taking back our government. What we in the conservative world agree on is the fact we have to throw out the political lifer's in favor of candidates who are "of the people".

I applaud the citizens of Texas State District 83 for doing in one step, what I see as, at a minimum, a two election cycle process. In my opinion we as a nation should heel the helm over first at the lower levels, and work our way up. If a target of opportunity on the national level presents itself ie Rubio v Cristy in Fla. go for it. The primaries are where the blood letting should occur. Once that is settled, then we unify behind the right wing candiate, with the common goal of defeating the Democrats.

Our first priority in 2010 must be to kick the commucrats out of D.C. If that means voting for a Republican so be it. That is as long as they aren't RINOs.

As for the 2012 election we should see some of the independent candidates from the state ranks emerge to challenge the Republican establishment.

I saw a comment, that as long as Republican candidates deny Obama's ineligibility we should not donate one penny to them. Is that wise? I understand the point of the comment, but without funds the candidates from the right wing will likely lose to the democrats. Is that what we want?

I say2010 is not the time for the starvation tactic. We have to hold our nose if need be and work to get the Left out of office as job one. But at the same time it must be this campaign season the Republican right wing has to move back to the right of center. If they fail to do so then we go strictly third party in 2012, instead of a hybrid Tea Party/Republican coalition.
