If I Were King
Yesterday Obama remarked at the G20 he was returning to Washington, to call the bluff on the will of the party of no (republicans) on fixing budget deficits.
Obama doesn't consider cutting spending as part of the fix, unless it's defense spending, or border patrol, as the way to reduce the deficit.
Obama wants more taxes, not less spending.
The minuscule 5% cut in discretionary spending, proposed for the 2010 budget still under debate, is a drop in the bucket. The Right is holding out for 7%, again a barely less minuscule effort. Big deal.
We need a hatchet taken to the bloated federal budget, not prick it with a straight pin.
Allow me to make a suggestion,-keeping in mind some taxation is a necessary evil.
Attack the deficit with this formula- for every $1 in increased taxation, then $3 of spending must be cut. Equally and across the board, no sacred cows. When the budget is balanced, then they can stop. Simple.
I realize by cutting to the chase, this nets out to $2 to 0 spending cut but it's just my way of trying to out slick the slick commucrats. Make'em think they're getting more taxes, (when they really aren't,) while overall spending is cut, same crap they try to sell us, just in reverse.
BTW is anybody curious why the so called $250 billion in medicare waste fraud and abuse isn't all over the front page, as a federal cost cutting measure. Why is this vat of money still being frittered away?

An election for President and Commander in Chief of the Military must strive to be above reproach. Our public institutions must give the public confidence that a presidential candidate has complied with the election process that is prescribed by our Constitution and laws. It is only after a presidential candidate satisfies the rules of such a process that he/she can expect members of the public, regardless of their party affiliations, to give him/her the respect that the Office of President so much deserves.
