From the blogosphere...TIME TO DEMAND A CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATION...Will YOU write a letter or two THIS WEEKEND?...
As the article called for, I e-mailed my congressman, Kevin McCarthy, who will be the House's chief deputy whip in the 112th Congress:
Dear Congressman,
Thank you for your recent response to my concerns about the constitutional eligibility of Barack Obama to serve as president. While I was not satisfied with your answers and plan to rebut them someday so that you may more correctly respond to future inquiries on this subject, for now I wish to focus on the recent conviction and sentencing of Lt. Col. Terry Lakin for disobeying orders because of his doubts that they were valid.
The judge in his court-martial deprived him of his constitutional right to discovery that he needed to defend himself of the charges and ensure a fair trial. What resulted was a kangaroo trial when all Lakin wanted was an answer to a legal rather than political question. He had tried in vain for two years to have this matter settled with his superiors as well as legislators.
Barring a successful appeal, Lakin will spend six months in prison and lose up to $2 million in retirement pay and benefits. This would not have happened if only Congress and the courts had done their jobs to ensure that Obama satisfied the Article II, Section 1 requirements to be president.
Lakin is anything but a "lone wolf" in this case. As you can see from the article at the following link, he has numerous supporters in the military who share his concerns, including retired generals: http://obamareleaseyourrecords.blogspot.com/2010/12/commander-charles-kerchners-first.html
As you can see from another article on this subject (http://www.thepostemail.com/2010/12/15/british-citizenship-the-true-disqualifier-for-obama/), so many questions remain unanswered that it is imperative that you and your colleagues in Congress take this matter seriously and resolve it. All other efforts have failed for one reason or another and yet the issue of whether Obama meets the constitutional qualification to occupy the Oval Office remains. At the very least I expect you to act to ensure that justice is served in Lakin's case and that future elections are not clouded by this issue.
