I will put these Polks up for anyone who would care to have a look. This batch is from the most recent trip to Honolulu, and captured for me. The Interrogator had to use a recording device that I provided her with as the copiers in the State Library were out of order.
The reason the images are not very perfect is simply because getting the knack of using this particular device is largely dependent on using it a lot. So, being somewhat unfamiliar with it, the images came out rough-ish.
For those of you who do not know what a Polk Directory is, it is rather like a phone book, but gives slightly different info. It may give your occupation and place of work, spouses name, home address. But not the phone number.
Why do I have a post with a bunch of Polk images? If you are here looking at them, chances are you know why these are of interest to some researchers.
That is why I am posting them. I have them, some people may be curious to see them, some researchers may want to study them, so here they are.
UPDATE: a link to a history of the Polk Directories. While not as complete as I would like, nor as detailed, it gives you a general idea of how the co. evolved.
