Lindsey Graham--an embarrassment to South Carolina and the nation ...

- Anthony Martin - The Conservative Examiner

By demonstrating his total disregard for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, Lindsey Graham proved that he is an embarrassment to South Carolina and the nation by voting in favor of ultra-Leftwing Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan.

Only 6 Senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted against the nominee. They are Jeff Sessions, R-Alabama, Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, John Kyle, R-Arizona, Tom Coburn, R-Oklahoma, Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and John Cornyn, R-Texas.

Every Democrat on the Committee voted in favor of the nominee, who has stated the government has the 'right' to restrict free speech and other provisions of the First Amendment, shown an outright disdain for citizen gun rights, banned the military from the Harvard Law School campus, advocated for no restrictions on 'partial birth abortions' (which amounts to outright infanticide), and claimed that the government can engage in blatant censorship of pamphlets, booklets, fliers, and other political and/or religious material.

Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, was the only Republican on the Committee who voted in favor of Kagan.

This is not the first time Graham has engaged in pandering to the Leftwing, much to the ire of his constituents in South Carolina.

Graham's support for the Bush-McCain plan for amnesty for illegal aliens in 2007 had citizens in such an uproar that they were demanding his scalp. A local talk radio program on a Fox affiliate, WORD, in Greenville-Spartanburg, indicated at the time that citizens were so angry at Graham that they were demanding he drop out of the race for the U.S. Senate.

Under heavy, unprecedented pressure from voters, both Graham and McCain dropped their support for the plan, and, with little challenge from Democrats in the state, Graham sailed to an easy reelection in 2008.

But the Senator has raised the ire of voters once again with 3 major items in the news. First, he supported Obama Supreme Court nominee Sonya Sotomayor. Second, he supported a form of 'cap and trade' carbon taxes that he carefully masqueraded as a 'clean American energy' initiative. Third, he voted in favor of Kagan.

Voters in South Carolina are thus outraged once again, and many are calling for a new law that would allow 'recall elections' in order to oust a Senator or elected officials BEFORE the next election.

Given that Graham won't be up for reelection until 2014, the citizens have a long time to wait unless they are given recourse against a Senator who has been such an embarrassment and disappointment to the state.

Graham's support of Kagan, who so clearly demonstrates the present danger to our liberties, should be enough to prove that not only is he an embarrassment to the conservative cause but a total charlatan.

In this era in which our liberties are under attack as never before from our own government, we can no longer be afforded the luxury of voting in favor of a court nominee on the merit of her qualifications alone--the rationale Graham used to defend his unfortunate vote. A nominee's judicial philosophy is of extreme importance, especially when one considers a host of statements that fly in the face of every single founding principle Americans have held as sacrosanct for over 200 years.

Thus, Graham's vote in favor of Kagan is tantamount to the Senator's approval of her attacks on free speech, gun rights, privacy, the military, and a host of other issues that show her outright disdain for the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

Graham's actions, therefore, are disgraceful and a travesty of the American judicial system. He should be removed from office by any means at the disposal of citizens, short of violence.
