Last year, shortly before nationwide opposition to the radical Obama agenda suddenly coalesced around an obscure state Senator from Massachusetts, Rush Limbaugh made some particularly interesting comments: [N]ationalize every House race in 2010, nationalize every Senate race in 2010, just as those elections were nationalized in 1994.
...Position these people as nationwide leftist radicals with their impact not just in the district but throughout the country. That worked magic in 1994. That's part of the strategery next November. That's going to have to be done.
[emphasis added]
Even as we continue to slog through the primaries, now is the time to nationalize every race in the country. With the New Media at our disposal, we have the power to shine a bright light into every corner of the nation. There's nowhere for cowardly liberals -- Democrat or Republican -- to hide.
Ten Buck Fridays (TBF) is providing a mechanism through which the intense heat and light emanating from the Tea Parties can be transformed into coordinated action nationwide.
Hundreds of conservatives, including about 60 bloggers, are providing their ever-growing support for TBF. The idea started in May with one blogger, Conscientiously Conservative, and it has gone viral over the past few weeks.
As TBF has grown, the need for guidelines and organization has grown as well. We'll get to those issues later in this post, but first I want to review the basic idea of "Ten Buck Fridays." Charles Lollar explains it as well as anyone can: Here's how it works: For Ten Buck Fridays, congressional candidates are nominated and voted on throughout the week. The winner is announced Friday and cross-promoted amongst the supporting conservative blogs. These blogs then promote a $10 per donation money bomb for the winning candidate. Would you go to the link I've posted here and cast your vote for me? Tell your friends!"
Each week, TBF participants are strongly encouraged (but not required) to rally behind the deserving conservative Republican who wins the poll...to provide that candidate with a substantial money bomb.
You'll notice there's no middleman in this process. Your money goes exactly where you want it to go. Contributors send their investment directly to the candidates.
Participants put the words "Ten Buck Fridays" in the online donation form so that recipients know what's happening and so that donation totals can be determined. As Lilac Sunday has noted, the "occupation" line on the online donation form is a handy place to indicate that you're a Ten Buck Fridays participant.
TBF participants are unified by the desire to support conservatives who need an extra boost, and we're sending a powerful message of encouragement to those who share our cherished values. As we shout together, our voices will be heard.
Moving forward, here are some points to clarify:
- Nominations for TBF are accepted on a continuous basis, and tallied up on a weekly basis for inclusion in the weekly TBF poll. Nominations can be left here at RightKlik or with any other TBF blogger. Those nominees who have received the most nominations will be prioritized.
- Nominees who have been excluded from a poll due to lack of room (only 10 slots per week), will be prioritized for future polls.
- Nominations will no longer be accepted from anonymous sources. Please provide your first and last names and/or a link to your blog if you have one.
- New polls go up on Sundays at noon; polls close on Fridays at 12:01 A.M.
- Candidates who have won a TBF poll go on hold for two weeks before being eligible for renomination, e.g., the candidate who wins on August 20, could be nominated for the poll that goes up on September 5.
- Don't feel limited by the $10 suggestion. Some contributors give quite a bit more.
- Make TBF a positive experience. Don't attack conservative rivals. Email a TBF blogger if you have urgent concerns.
- A preliminary list of eligible nominees will be posted here at RightKlik each Saturday. If a nominee has a serious flaw, please bring the issue to our attention at that time.
- Number one rule of TBF voting: Don't cheat! TBF bloggers will confer before taking action to address irregularities, but cheating will not be tolerated.
I leave you with some of my favorite TBF quotes:
Z:
"We could go broke supporting all the great Conservatives running, but it's worth it..........we'll go BROKE if we DON'T ELECT THEM!"
Smitty at The Other McCain:
"In the end, the votes cast for the election are what matter. However, time, effort, and money have an impact. The money is important, particularly early. So the Ten Buck Fridays is a wonderful way to express political will in a fashion that shall no doubt bring tears of frustration to the eyes of an elitist near you."
Maggie Thornton:
"I think the best thing about this program is that most of us would not have donated every week. Some would give a large donation along the way, but some might put it off and never really get it done, because, let's face it, these are hard times and it isn't easy to give up your hard earned money, needed just to keep the kids eating.
"This keeps us focused on the fact that if we DO NOT donate, the kids will have no choice but to eat off of Obama's Behavior Modification list, and heil to Obama each morning at school."
Proof Positive:
Conscientiously Conservative:
"Ten Buck Fridays started today for me. I donated $10 to Teresa Collett's campaign for 4th Congressional District in Minnesota. Many of us get paid on Fridays... if we bring a sack lunch a couple of times a week to work, right there is an extra tenner.
"What if conservatives donated
$10 each and every week up through November to viable candidates and/or PAC's that are promoting a conservative agenda? If you can't afford every week, what about twice a month? Or once a month? Conservatives need to put their money where their mouth is.
"Commit to Ten Buck Fridays... it WILL make a difference come November!"

Keep supporting conservative Republicans. We are not able to "snap" a light switch on. People must recognize is is more like turning up a dimmer switch. The more light we shine on good candidates, the more all of us will see. Those who are poor candidates will no longer be able to hide in the shadows.
ReplyDeleteEach day the light grows brighter, more people see the truth, and our country is stronger for it. Do not give up. I won my state convention for US Congress in CTs 2nd District when I was told I could not. I lost the primary but kept Team Daria intact.
Now Team Daria is helping other conservative Republicans win races in my state. We must do everything possible this critical election eyar to make sure first and foremost the Republic is strong and the people have a voice. If you have questions about how to do this in your area or if you want to help us please contact me at 203-318-8200 or daria@teamdaria.org
Thanks for the post!
