REAL CHANGE...WE THE PEOPLE MUST DEMAND THESE REFORMS...

This is something we can do to improve our government and correct a travesty against the American people.
THIS IS HOW WE COULD DO IT!!!!!

Send this to conservatives, liberals, and anyone in between.  Even though we disagree on a number of issues, we may agree on this one.  Let's promote a "Congressional Reform Act of 2010."  It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Many of you will think this is impossible.  Let me remind you, Congress has the lowest approval rating of any entity in Government. This is a time when Americans may join together to reform Congress -- our representatives.

We will need a Senator to introduce this bill in the US Senate and a
Representative to introduce a similar bill in the US House.  These people would undoubtedly become American heroes.

1. Term Limits.

12 year limit with one of the possible options below :
    A. Two Six-year Senate terms
    B. Six Two-year House terms
    C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

2.  No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no      pay when  leaving office.

3.  Congress (past, present & future) will participate in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund will be moved to the Social  Security system immediately.  All future funds will flow into the Social Security  system, and Congress will participate with the American people at large.

4. Congress members can purchase their own retirement plan, just as the rest of Americans may, if they wish.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.  Congressional pay will  rise by the CPI or 3%, whichever is lower.

6. Congress members will forfeit their current health care system and participate in the same health care system open to the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present members of Congressmen are null and void  as of  01/01/11.
The American people did not make the existing contracts with members of Congress.  The contracts were made by Congress for Congress.

Serving in Congress is to be considered an honor, not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serving out their term(s), then going home and back to the work they left when they joined Congress.
