What Has LtCol Lakin Done?

Is there some strategy going on here that we or better yet I don't understand? If what is being reported it topically true then LtCol Lakin flinched at the moment of truth.

Before I launch a castigation tirade against Terrence Lakin, I will say something on his behalf. It was Lakin against The United States, pretty long odds. Lakin could see the handwriting on the wall, he was not going to be afforded a fair trial, nobody in the chain of command was advocating for him, the public in general were apathetic, so what was he to do light him self on fire for nothing?

From appearances these past two days, the events seem eerily familiar to the other military MD Orly Taitz briefly represented, before said MD veered off when the heat was turned up by the regime.

LtCol Lakin shouldn't be scorned for thinking of his self preservation, he's had a lot of pressure regarding issues about fellow comrades who have deployed anyway and family responsibilities.

I don't know if this actually happened at the Alamo, but it's good lore. Before the final assault Santa Ana offered safe passage to the women and chilren inside the mission. One was a blind wife of a defender. Colonel Travis told the defender, as great as the needs of the Alamo were, that particular family's needs were greater, and Travis offered to excuse him.

On the other hand 18 months in a prison isn't all that long. It's six months longer than a war zone deployment, and as a soldier Lakin stood the chance of becoming a casualty, or a POW, at the hands of the Taliban no less.

Eighteen years of service doesn't qualify for a retirement pension, but it is a couple years shy. Lakin as an MD could do better financially speaking outside the Army anyway. His chances of continuing in the service are over, so the point I guess I'm making is " in for penny, in for a pound" he should have stuck to his guns and finished what he started instead of flinching. The net costs aren't going to be that much different.

But he did stand up....... for a while anyway. That's more than any of us can claim.

Book deal to be announced soon.
