The NFL Punk
I've watched my share of football, one of the things I picked up on, isn't something which takes place during a game but afterward.
Without singling out any one player, from time to time, these guys act.... "well stupidly". Some in fact are, a walking, talking, teachable moment. Our politically correct excuse for them, is its their astronomical sudden wealth colliding with their recent proximity to the ghetto. An oil and water thingy.
When the proverbial shinenola hits the fan, and the glare of the spotlight squarely turns in their direction, with TV cameras and live mics running hot, these future Cons, in an effort to save their Nike contract, suddenly sound Oxford reared, instead of South Central bred. I'm mean flowing words of apologetic eloquence the likes of which could almost fool St Peter.
For whose sake is this Minuet in Gangsta Minor played? Not the offending player because a month from now he'll be back at the podium once again offering up his latest apology, not for the fans because we didn't believe the first one, that pretty much leaves the shoe maker. I don't think they believe it either, but they are held harmless any guilt from association fallout because they have it on tape, that their hoodlum in cleats apologized.
Obama and his damage controllers/speech writers follow the same pattern. No matter how offensive a verbal statement, a past association, or communistic his plans, or non-human response to tragedy such as Ft Hood, they roust the word smith to cobble together the right sentiments and get Obama to his teleprompters. Situation handled .
But is it? NFL fans stopped buying it, quite awhile ago.

An election for President and Commander in Chief of the Military must strive to be above reproach. Our public institutions must give the public confidence that a presidential candidate has complied with the election process that is prescribed by our Constitution and laws. It is only after a presidential candidate satisfies the rules of such a process that he/she can expect members of the public, regardless of their party affiliations, to give him/her the respect that the Office of President so much deserves.
