A patriot expresses concerns about the upcoming TEA PARTY CONVENTION...
Gentlemen & Ladies,
I love the concept of a Tea Party Convention, and have been calling for one for over a year now. However, I think you are making a BIG mistake with the plans for this one!
First of all you have raised the ire of many Tea Party State organizations by your preemptive structure.
Secondly, this is a misnomer -- you are NOT planning a "Convention"! A TRUE "Convention" would not restrict the number of participant-representative (Delegates) from each State. And, it would NOT be a "banquet" (with food). AND, the cost would be a maximum of $100 PER DELEGATE (to cover the cost of arena rental).
And, most importantly, you shoot yourself in the foot when you float PRE-DETERMINED Candidates, like Sarah Palin, like the current Parties do. (I like Sarah, but she does NOT have the backing of the majority of Conservatives).
To have a TRUE Convention, EACH STATE should have IT'S OWN Delegates and have it's OWN Candidates to float, with speech time for each Candidate!
Unlike the pre-structured Democrat and Republican Parties' Conventions wherein the Candidates for BOTH Parties have been predetermined by Big Money Interests BEHIND the scenes, a true Conservative Convention would allow the 50 Candidates to make their speeches over several days, and then the Delegates vote for the finalists, who then give their speeches to a televised audience.
THEN, the Delegates vote for the FINAL CANDIDATE for their representative Presidential Candidate to face off against the Democrat and Republican Candidates, or in the event of a Convention of Candidates for Congress, the Final Candidates by State. (This would, of course, require a "State Convention" along similar lines, arranged by the Conservative Groups in each State to select their Candidates by Congressional Districts, first.)
Now, THAT would be a real Convention that could pull us all together to effect a change in Washington!

Why does Mr. Tucker single out Sarah? As I understand it, Sarah has been invited as a speaker, as has Mitt Romney. Why does Mr. Tucker not have the same comments for Romney, who, as a guest speaker, seems to be no more or less significant than Palin?
