This past week the Senate Judiciary Committee passed Sen. Diane Feinstein’s gun control measure that outlaws more than 150 different firearms by a strictly party line (10-8) vote, despite a 2nd Amendment that clearly says “shall not be infringed”.
It doesn’t say “some firearms can be infringed”, or “some magazines can be infringed”; it says “shall not be infringed”. State legislatures in California, Illinois, New York, and now Colorado have all passed some sort of gun control measures that clearly go against the Constitution, the 2nd Amendment, and the intentions of our Founding Fathers.
I often wonder what happened to the “Blue Dog Democrats” who were so vocal and so visible during the TEA Party rallies in 2009/2010. Where have these “champions of freedom” in the Democrat Party gone? When their re-election was in danger they were more than happy to stand up and deny any support of Democrat Party Marxism. Now??? Crickets!!!!
I know of no Democrat in Congress, or any state legislature, that has stood up in the last few years and defended the Constitution, as written by our founders.
Are there no Americans left in the Democrat Party? Are all of them determined to destroy our Republic and replace it with a dictatorship as long as it is led by their party? Is party loyalty so intense that they are willing to let a 237 year history of liberty and self-determination go down the tubes for the sake of a political party?
What happened to the Democrat Party of my childhood, the Democrat Party led by John F. Kennedy? Kennedy believed in low taxes; and valued the 2nd Amendment, self-determination, and the responsibility of American citizens to stand on their own two feet and make a life for themselves and their families. And, above all, JFK valued liberty. The following quotes from JFK reveal his thoughts on America and what our way of life means.
“A tax cut means higher family income and higher business profits and a balanced federal budget…. As the national income grows, the federal government will ultimately end up with more revenues. Prosperity is the real way to balance our budget. By lowering tax rates, by increasing jobs and income, we can expand tax revenues and finally bring our budget into balance.”
“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”
“Every time that we try to lift a problem from our own shoulders, and shift that problem to the hands of the government, to the same extent we are sacrificing the liberties of our people.”
“By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fear of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the 2nd amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationship, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason I believe the 2nd Amendment will always be important.”
Today’s Democrat Party is the polar opposite of JFK. They endeavor to strip We the People of the rights given by God and guaranteed by the Constitution in the Bill of Rights. JFK would never sit in a Judiciary Committee meeting and tell citizens we don’t have the right to defend ourselves from criminals, or from a tyrannical government. Read he last quote again. He would never tell us we must either turn in our weapons or have them confiscated to “protect us” from each other.
I have often written, in criticizing the Republican Party, that JFK would not be able to win the nomination to be the party’s presidential candidate in 2008 or 2012 because he would be too conservative. If the Republican Party has gone that far left and is considered the party of “right wing extremists” by Democrats, what does that say for the Democrat Party? I know good people, delusional but good, who are Democrats. How is it they can vote for today’s Democrat Party and stand by those who seek to strip them of their rights as they strip mine from me. Do they believe that they are going to be allowed to have guns just because they register with the right political party?
Are Democrat voters so naive or so downright stupid that they think their party will only destroy the basic rights of citizens who are not Democrats and not also apply that destruction to them? Can anyone really be that clueless? I find it almost impossible to believe that out of 55 Democrats in the Senate there are none who will stand up for liberty as outlined by John F. Kennedy. Am I to understand that not one of them, nor any in the House of Representatives, will stand against the clearly Marxist leadership of their party and put the freedom of their children and grandchildren ahead of the agenda of people who are undoubtedly seeking the destruction of our Republic to replace it with a dictatorship, a la Hugo Chavez?
I know there are a lot of Republicans, such as Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, and others who are willing accomplices in the destruction of America but at least there are some who stand for the Constitution. Are there no Ted Cruz or Rand Paul type Senators in the Democrat Party? Are there no Louie Gohmert, Ted Poe, Jim Bridenstine, Tim Huelskamp, Justin Amash, Jason Chaffetz type Democrats in the House of Representatives?
What has happened to the Democrat Party? I can only assume that every voter who casts a ballot for a Democrat believes in tyranny and absolute power coming from the party elitists in Washington D C (De Cesspool).
Can no Democrat voter see where these people are taking their nation? I find this distressing to a level I don’t know how to describe. If people who I believe are upstanding patriotic Americans can go into the voting booth and choose people like Charles Schumer, Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Sheila Jackson Lee, Hank Johnson, Charles Rangel, Nancy Pelosi, etc. is there any hope for our nation?
I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.
