Should I Ridicule This Ignorant Comment or Should I Educate?

Please review Article II Section 1 Clause 5.... To wit (or nitwit) as the case may be.

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Lets see, Geo. Washington was at least 35 ( February 22, 1732 ), born in Virginia so he was a resident living in this land for at least 14 years, but wait, he wasn't a citizen for those 14 years?????

Ooooooh I get it . Those crazy Founders, they thought it only fair and just, that the people who established the nation many who had fought for its independence should be given the right to lead it, so they put in the " or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution " provision.

So in 1789 anyone who was a citizen, 35 years old, and a resident for 14 years could be eligilble if elected, to be sworn in as POTUS. After this founding generation died off, that provision which was unique to the original founders, remains so, unique to the founders. No other generation of Americans fits this provision unless there is someone here in the US 235 years old today. Those who followed the founding fathers and mothers, had to be NATURAL BORN citizens of this land. Not native, not naturalized..... NATURAL BORN. Single allegiance by birth.

As a side note, ever wonder why the time frame was 14 years? If you take the years 1789 minus 1775 that makes 14 years. Voting age was 21, if you add the 14 years to that, you get 35, the age requirement to be POTUS.

In 1775 the "shot heard round the world was fired" The Founders didn't want to confer the special exemption to be POTUS on any Johnny come latelies. If you were there from 1775 at the outset of hostilities, you earned your citizenship "residency" anything less would have been an insult to the original patriots, say, should some Kenyan immigrate to the US after all the shooting was done,in 1788 1/2 and wanted to run for President on the slogan, Hope and Change, just prior to the ratification of the Constitution on June 21 1788.

With a view to the future election of the first president by the Constitutionalists, the dates for the election were taken into consideration, said election which time frame ended January 10,1789.

The election took place following the ratification of the United States Constitution in 1788. The polls opened on December 15, 1788, and closed on January 10, 1789

There has never been a Constitutional President of... There has never been a Constitutional President of the nation of the United States, not even George Washingto! There have only been corporate presidents. George Washington was not stupid and he himself could not meet the residency requirement of "...,and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States." upon the day of his Oath of office. Ask yourself, when did the United States become the United States? Was it July 4,1776 (previous to this it was no more than a British provence? If so you better look up when George was sworn into office. His term started in 1789, 13 years after the decloration of Independence. Did the United States become the United States upon ratification of the Articles of Confederation? "The ratification process was completed in March 1781, legally federating the sovereign and independent states, already cooperating through the Continental Congress, into a new federation styled the "The United States of America"." If this is the case then George could only have been a resident for 8 years upon his oath. See this whole constitutional President thing is not so simple or is it.
