Migrant Work Permits

The liberals are all for Mexicans and other Latin Americans illegal entrance to our country allowing them to take jobs from Americans.

In Texas the state GOP is holding its pre election convention. At the risk of alienating the Hispanic vote, the state republicans are crafting planks to the platform, that call for tougher laws for breaking our current code. They want a law to make it a Class A felony to be in Texas illegally. They want to do away with bi-lingual education after the 3rd grade. They want to do away with mandatory pre kindergarten and kindergarten, changing it to voluntary kindergarten. Also no college assistance for illegals. They want to ban day labor centers, a magnet for illegals looking to pick up work. Among the best ideas-no citizenship for anchor babies, and any amnesty plan tied to citizenship will be opposed by Texas.

The idea of work permits seems to be the best solution. We must not pass out our citizenship like it is candy.

To my taste, we allow too many legal immigrants into our country already. The State Department issues 3,000,000 new visas every year. When you add on to that another 2,000,000 annual border crashers, you begin to wonder who's country this is anyway?

I say both numbers needs to be severely curtailed, the first drastically cut, and the latter stopped altogether. Obama's head of I.C.E. by statement tells us it is an impossibility to make any major difference in the numbers of illegals already here. We realize such an opinion is wrong and it is politically motivated. We also must realize this is part of the propagandization of the public to make us succumb to the left's agenda.

The unions are Obama's pet segment. He views this group as a major source that furnishes a large part of his storm troopers. Many times he has called on his SEIU thugs through Andy Stern to incite and disrupt townhalls and tea party gatherings. Stern is only too happy to accommodate Obama. There is a price to Obama though. We are seeing part of the payment, in the Gulf. The Jones Act calls for only American crewed and registered vessels to be allowed to ply the inter coastal transits. The vessels from foreign nations may only call on US ports as cross ocean commerce . Although the Jones Act can be waived as needed, Obama has yet to cross this union protecting barrier. No skimmer vessels from the international community have been put to work cleaning the Gulf.

We need to structure any work permit plan for illegals, to impact all of America equally. The 4 southern border states should not have more than their proportional share of workers. The states most unionized also should be targeted as first in the barrel for Mexican workers. New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania Massachusetts and New York should take the first batch of wage under-cutters Presidente' Calderon will send to the US. No other states should accept foreign work-permit labor unless the aforementioned states have their full capacity of these workers employed within their state boundaries. These union states notoriously have the highest unemployment rates and the highest taxations. It comes as no wonder, when you are over run with the high cost of union contracts.

To fight the Left, we need to go after them on all fronts. Immigration and the unions are two key areas.
