False reassurances--Obama lied or he is terribly misinformed

Apart from the fact that last night's address from the Oval Office was nothing more than a PR campaign for the cap-and-trade energy tax scheme, Barack Obama's false reassurances to the residents of the Gulf coast show that either he lied or he is terribly misinformed.

At this point in the disaster it is way too early to provide reassurances to anyone, anywhere.

The reason is clear and dire. The Gulf oil disaster is much worse than anyone will admit, and the repercussions for human life could be potentially catastrophic.

Obama repeatedly asserted that the disaster will not destroy the way of life of the residents of the Gulf coast. While that could turn out to be true, at this point the evidence says the opposite.

BP admits that it cannot stop the gusher on the floor of the deep waters of the Gulf. The U.S. government apparently is unable to stop it as well. Estimates as of today indicate that the gusher is spewing a million and a half to 4 million gallons of oil into the Gulf each day...and with no end in sight.

The consequence of these facts presents a doomsday scenario of historic proportions.

First, the gases that are coming from the oil gusher are infinitely more dangerous than the oil. Benzine is one, and it is deadly. The other is hydrogen sulfide, which, when inhaled, kills immediately.

Second, the continued inability to stop the oil gusher will mean that there is absolutely no method known to mankind that will prevent the oil from entering the stream that will take it not only to the Florida Keys and the East Coast, but far beyond to the farthest reaches of the planet.

Third, due to the Obama Administration's failure, along with BP, to use methods early-on to stop the flow of oil toward the shoreline, the chemical dispersant manufactured by NALCO--the 'green' company in which Obama, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Berkshire Hathaway, and BP itself are heavily invested--is causing the oil to sink to the floor of the Gulf.

A video on CBS News yesterday indicated that though one may not be able to see the oil on the surface of the water along the beach, by simply reaching down to the Gulf floor and scooping up some sand one can see that the oil is sitting on top of the sand at the bottom--out of sight. The chemical dispersant is the cause of that phenomenon, and it is causing a deadly scenario in the Gulf that will kill fish, coral, and other sea life, not to mention the devastating impact it will have on oxygen levels.

Fourth, and this is the worst-case scenario that could occur in the event the gusher cannot be stopped, the area of the Gulf where the well is located is a sitting disaster waiting to happen. This report based upon a study from a team of scientists, explains the potential once-in-100,000-year catastrophe we could be facing, simply because Leftwing nutcases, the environmentalist movement, and Barack Obama refuse to allow oil drilling in safe areas on the mainland and on the shoreline.

Drilling for oil on top of a volcano on the Gulf floor and near a major fault-line is simply not necessary when there are rich oil fields available for the taking on land and along our coastlines, where spills can be cleaned up easily.

The fact that we have allowed politicians to place these areas off-limits is a study in feeblemindedness that dwarfs even the most outrageous decisions of imbeciles.

One more thing is worth mentioning at this point. The notion of 'making BP pay,' which is only fitting, poses another serious problem. BP's liability in the disaster exceeds its cash reserves. What happens when BP goes bankrupt? Who will foot the bill for the carnage? The taxpayers? Is this going to be yet another excuse for the government to take over a private corporation, which will cost the taxpayers even more multi-billions in 'bailout' funds?

Obama failed to address this very real possibility.

Thus, Obama lied or is terribly misinformed. And, given that he has been closely aligned with BP for years, one can safely surmise that it is the former and not the latter explanation.
