This is all too reminiscent of Lewinskygate. Bill Clinton partisans still rant, "His personal life is his own business!" He wasn't impeached because of what he did with Lewinsky; he was impeached because he lied to Congress about it under oath. Obama and Hillary Clinton probably bear some blame in regard to what happened at Benghazi, but the main point of contention is and always has been their lying about it afterward, all for political gain. They willingly lied about it, speaking to the families of the slain, while standing over their coffins; they lied about it to the press and the American public, and then they lied about it to Congress - absolutely an impeachable offense. "What does it matter?" Hillary shrieks? It matters to the families of those slain, whose loss was slathered with lies; it matters to the poor soul who was persecuted by our government officials, hounded and imprisoned because he was a convenient scapegoat; it matters that they dishonored their sacred oaths to the American people; and it matters that they lied to and deliberately obstructed Congress in their search for the truth.

An election for President and Commander in Chief of the Military must strive to be above reproach. Our public institutions must give the public confidence that a presidential candidate has complied with the election process that is prescribed by our Constitution and laws. It is only after a presidential candidate satisfies the rules of such a process that he/she can expect members of the public, regardless of their party affiliations, to give him/her the respect that the Office of President so much deserves.
