The 2010 special election for Florida's 19th congressional district is a special election that will take place to fill the vacancy caused by Representative Robert Wexler's resignation, effective the evening of January 3, 2010, from the United States House of Representatives. Wexler, who had represented the 19th district since 1997, left Congress to become president of the Center for Middle East Peace & Economic Cooperation.
Governor Charlie Crist on 4 November 2009 set the primary for 2 February and the general election for 13 April 2010 (rescheduled from 6 April to avoid passover).

An election for President and Commander in Chief of the Military must strive to be above reproach. Our public institutions must give the public confidence that a presidential candidate has complied with the election process that is prescribed by our Constitution and laws. It is only after a presidential candidate satisfies the rules of such a process that he/she can expect members of the public, regardless of their party affiliations, to give him/her the respect that the Office of President so much deserves.
