America's Unemployed

President Zero is a magician. He is going to create 5,000,000 new American jobs and he is going to grant general amnesty to between 15 and 20,000,000 undocumented workers and their families. Our current unemployment level is estimated at 9.5% of our 155,000,000 workforce. If we subtract 4% from the given 9.5% we have a truer figure to work with. Why, you ask? I'm allowing for what most economists call true unemployment, the 4% of the workforce that is in constant motion- those that are not working due to a leave of absence, illness, injury etc., also those who voluntarily leave one job, to accept a job with a different company, or someone who strikes out on their own and is in the process of opening a business, or closing down an unsuccessful attempt. These types of things go into the 4% figure. So at 96% EMPLOYMENT we are considered to be at effective full employment. So how are we going to help this other 5.5% that are flat out of work? These 8,525,000 workers without jobs? Can they wait 2 years waiting for the Stimulus package to catch hold? Doubtful. Will the Stimulus Package even solve the problem, even after allowing 2 years? BIG DOUBTFUL. What will and do it quickly? Sending home the undocumented workers would. Eisenhower did it back in the late 1950's and it took about a year to do the work. There's a job for America's unemployed right there. America could reclaim 5,000,000 jobs just by sending home, the illegals. But these are jobs no American will take. BS. If you had the choice of running your own lawn mowing service for the here and now or going hungry while residing penniless in a tent city by the lake, I think I know what choice you would make. At least for the immediate future. But see you don't have to stay in the grass cutting business, that's just how the illegals view the situation. That's entry level work. You move up to brick mason instead of staying at brick bringer, painting contractor instead of painter, then there's drywall installer, roofer, carpenter, electrician, plumber, auto mechanic, heavy equipment operator. If you want your own business how about restaurant owner, moving company entrepreneur, get a contract to provide office building cleaning services. How many sky scrapers are there in America anyway? Then there's all kinds of other businesses that like their facilities cleaned overnight, banks, retail establishments etc. These are just a few jobs open to you right now, except for one thing we don't have a government that cares about it's people. These are the jobs many illegals fill. What about the women in our work force, they don't want to be plumbers. Here is where I admit I need some help from a feminine perspective. How many nail salons, beauty shops, maid service, waitress, clerical, daycare worker jobs go to female illegals? Some of these translate into businesses Convenience Store owner,Daycare Owner, Office Cleaning Contractor,Dry Cleaner, Restaurant Owner. These opportunities are lost, not because of unwilling American workers, it's more due to over saturation of certain business markets, and undercutting the wage market by illegals. Americans believe in a fair wage for a fair days work. Illegals take any wage offered because they are at the mercy of unscrupulous employers.

Personally, my everyday working career started at 15 as soon as I got my driver's license.(prior to that it was garage cleaning, lawn mowing, car washing, weed pulling for the neighbors) The summer of my 15th year of life, I drove an ice cream kart, selling Popsicles ( there's another business for someone) At 16 I sacked groceries after school during the school week, and stocked shelves overnights on the weekends. Then there was the carwash, after school and weekends until I graduated and left for college. College summers highway road construction, a musical instrument factory, and book keeper at Sear's after classes during the semesters, helped pay some of the way through school, plus scholarships, and my wonderful parents. Later in life I wanted a business of my own, I literally picked up a hammer and built one. Point is I'm just the average Joe citizen, if there is an opportunity we Americans know what to do. We are not far removed from a time when 50% of us worked the farm. We know hard work, ask the pioneers. Oh and about the farm thing, did that too. We Americans will take these jobs, albeit not the greatest, nor do many of us aspire a career in them, but they are better than nothing at all.

Another act which would instantly help, would be to temporarily close the immigrant door. Annually we allow 3,000,000 LEGAL IMMIGRANTS to enter our country. How many jobs do these people take from the unemployed citizens of this country? Bill Gates the founder of Microsoft is a staunch supporter of the H1B work visa which grants foreigners the right to work here. How many Doctors and Registered Nurses are from India, how many Engineers? How many computer programmers and software techs?
In the medical field of our hospitals we see, India,Pakistan, Nigeria, Philippines, and Asian well represented in the work force. Most are new immigrants and legal. What about those jobs that have been outsourced to overseas telephone customer support types. Could anybody here looking for work, use a job like that?

I ramble a bit, I know, but you surely get the point. We don't need stimulus packages what we need is responsive government.

Steve
