Medal of Honor -Now A Cheapened Political Photo Op For Obama
Another one?? Medal of Honor to be awarded next month.
You know they don't have to accept it.
Obama has awarded more Medals of Honor per thousand troops than any Usurper in the history of this country. He has taken a sacred talisman and turned it into a cheap photo op poll ratings moment.
Twas a day not long ago, the Medal of Honor, was reserved for actual heroes or some nondescript individual we consider heroic who performed a feat of gallantry so above and beyond the call of duty, a mere Bronze Star ( listen to me--a mere Bronze Star) was insufficient recognition of the act of bravery.
Medals of Honor were once reserved for stratospheric courage under fire or tide changing events successfully performed- such as the Doolittle Raid or rescuing a floundering beachhead assault- such as was done at Omaha Beach by one Capt Joe Smith at Normandy one June morning or hopping on a helicopter to ride to the rescue of wounded comrades and taking on single handed an NVA battalion as did Special Forces Sgt Roy Benevides did in Viet Nam or what Sgt Alvin York did in World War I after single handedly killing scores of the enemy, taking another 130+ prisoner.
Last month a trooper was awarded the MOH for tossing back a hand grenade- in my father's generation that wasn't grounds for a MOH, it was called using your noggin' and they threw back many a grenade in his unit without getting squat, just the satisfaction of living for one more day. My father earned a Silver Star by walking into a known mine field under fire to rescue one of his subordinates who had stepped on a mine and lay wounded. My father also stepped on a mine as he approached and it cost him an amputated leg. Purple Heart, Silver Star plus an award from Britain because his unit was taken from Patton and given to Montgomery. No mention of a MOH, those guys were walking talking heroes that never felt what they did was unusual, rather what they did was called for by DUTY. But I digress.
Next month another marine will get his Medal of Honor for action in Afghanistan. Now I'm not harboring any ill will against this particular marine but let me remind you of something. On the back of the Bronze Star it says " Valor". On the back of the Silver Star it says " Gallantry". I'm wondering what today's Medal of Honor has inscribed on it's back-- "Cracker Jacks" a prize in every box.
At the rate the MOH is being awarded, the troops should be angry if the damn thing isn't in an MRE dinner pouch.

Finally someone who tells it right. Let's see, there's a grenade next to me, I can either sit here and die or I can try to get it out of here. Commonsense move, yes courageous in that he reached for it versus curling up in a ball and hoping to live. Give him a bronze or silver star, but the Medal of Honor...give me a break
