In a sign that Sonia Sotomayor will sail through the confirmation process, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, pretty much signaled in the hearings today that Republicans would not oppose her. [EXCUSE ME????]
Lindsey Graham said during the confirmation hearing to Sotomayor, “Unless you have a complete meltdown, you are going to be confirmed.”
Given that the Senate now has 60 Democrats, he’s probably right. But gee Lindsey, way to go! Nothing like putting up the good fight. What a terrible example you set. When is anyone going to stand up and tell it like it is. Why don't you just use your time to tell her she is incompetent, a bigot, a liar and is a mean-spirited #@!&* to boot! And that no one in their right mind should vote for her? What a wimp! Where's your backbone?

An election for President and Commander in Chief of the Military must strive to be above reproach. Our public institutions must give the public confidence that a presidential candidate has complied with the election process that is prescribed by our Constitution and laws. It is only after a presidential candidate satisfies the rules of such a process that he/she can expect members of the public, regardless of their party affiliations, to give him/her the respect that the Office of President so much deserves.
