Confirmed: NYC Bomber Not Linked to Tea Party
By Joy Tiz Tuesday, May 4, 2010The mainstream media was dealt a devastating blow yesterday with the news that Times Square car bomber, Faisal Shahzad was not, as most of the fossilizing media had feverishly hoped, linked to the Tea Party movement. NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg hypothesized the bomber was expressing opposition to ObamaCare. Had he been right, capturing the terrorist would have been a daunting task indeed as two thirds of population hates ObamaCare.
State controlled media fixates on the crudeness of the bomb— “experts” obsess over the bomber’s lack of “trade craft.” Shahzad obviously was not an adequately trained member of al Qaeda Local 1026 and thus should not be taken seriously.
Faisal Shahzad was arrested at JFK airport attempting to flee to Dubai. He is a naturalized American citizen, suggesting that those pushing for tougher immigration laws may be on to something. Like the Christmas Day panty bomber, Shahzad’s plot was stopped by a private citizen. It wasn’t until private citizens got involved did the government act. In the Times Square case, we can thank a well prepared local police department who learned the lessons of 9/11. Nothing the federal government did prevented these attacks.
It was under the direct supervision of the federal government that the jihadi massacre at Ft. Hood was allowed to happen.
To really emphasize the Obama administration’s indifference to Islamic terrorism, Eric Holder was deployed to reassure the nation that the administration is on top of things. We should find great solace knowing that Holder’s team of terrorist defense attorneys will superintend the process of bringing Shahzad “to justice.”
What Holder didn’t bother to mention is that the Obama administration has no plan for dealing with Shahzad or any other terrorist. On Day One, Obama stripped interrogation authority away from the CIA and gave it to terrorist-friendly Holder.
Ellie Velinska at Big Bureaucracy reminds us that the United States has been without a High Value Detainee Interrogation Unit for a year. The manifest risk prompted the introduction of the McCain-Lieberman bill S.3081 :
(a) Military Custody Requirement- Whenever within the United States, its territories, and possessions, or outside the territorial limits of the United States, an individual is captured or otherwise comes into the custody or under the effective control of the United States who is suspected of engaging in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners through an act of terrorism, or by other means in violation of the laws of war, or of purposely and materially supporting such hostilities, and who may be an unprivileged enemy belligerent, the individual shall be placed in military custody for purposes of initial interrogation and determination of status in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
The bill hasn’t gone anywhere.
We’re also hearing that Shazad’s house is in foreclosure. There you have it—he’s a victim of the subprime mortgage crisis. That should spark another round of congressional hearings. The president and congress will do nothing to protect us from Islamic terrorism. Unless, of course, Eric Holder decrees that making NYC safe for KSM should be on the priority list.
An election for President and Commander in Chief of the Military must strive to be above reproach. Our public institutions must give the public confidence that a presidential candidate has complied with the election process that is prescribed by our Constitution and laws. It is only after a presidential candidate satisfies the rules of such a process that he/she can expect members of the public, regardless of their party affiliations, to give him/her the respect that the Office of President so much deserves.
