President Obama has signed a bill to keep the U.S. from falling off the
so-called fiscal cliff, and he didn't even have to be at the White House
to do it.
Obama, who is vacationing in Hawaii, signed the bill using an autopen, a mechanical device that copies his signature. He's the first president in history to use the gizmo to sign a bill into law. The approval of the bill came on a sunny day in Honolulu in which the president played a round of golf at a Marine Corps base in nearby Kaneohe.

An election for President and Commander in Chief of the Military must strive to be above reproach. Our public institutions must give the public confidence that a presidential candidate has complied with the election process that is prescribed by our Constitution and laws. It is only after a presidential candidate satisfies the rules of such a process that he/she can expect members of the public, regardless of their party affiliations, to give him/her the respect that the Office of President so much deserves.
