A Great American Story

Part of today's journey of seeking out our Liberty is a forward looking quest, but let us not forget to glance back from whence we came;

First before I get into this, I want to say thanks to Tennessee for Davy Crockett. Prior to leaving the great State of Tennessee, on his way out the door to Texas, Crockett was asked if he was going to rerun for Congress. Crockett replied "To Hell with Tennessee, I'm going to Texas." So thank you Tennessee for sharing one of your favorite sons, whereby he gave his life for his newly adopted land.

How many of you know the story of Alvin York? Sgt. Alvin York won the Congressional Medal of Honor, during WWI for his valorous action in France. Alvin York's story is one for the ages,for those who want to know the details,it is well documented, but the part of the story I want to draw your attention to is what the people of Tennessee did for Alvin York in honoring his bravery.

It seems Sgt York prior to going into the military, wanted a plot of land to work and a roof overhead for his family-to-be. The people of Tennessee in 1918, gave him several hundred acres of prime farmland, and a state-of-the-art house for his family. Tennesseeans never heard of the "Make-A-Wish Foundation" they just knew how to express their pride and gratitude to Sgt York. So I want to say thank you once again to the people of Tennessee, you all are trully a great and generous American story.

Steve
