And why did he "forget"?...

Obama "forgets" to honor Fort Hood Hero at State of the Union

Though she was sitting by Michelle, and Obama alluded to Michelle twice, he failed to recognize the Ft. Hood Shooter.

Looking back, here is a piece from Washington saying that Obama would honor the Ft. Hood shooter at the State of the Union Speech:

WASHINGTON – During Tuesday's State of the Union address, President Barack Obama will honor Sgt. Kim Munley, the woman credited with ending the deadly Fort Hood shooting. Munley was shot several times in the exchange of gunfire and is still recovering from her injuries.

For months, family and friends in North Carolina and supporters across the nation have been calling her a hero.

During her trip to Washington, Munley also met with North Carolina leaders, including Sen. Kay Hagan. They all wanted a chance to thank her for her bravery.

Munley just underwent knee replacement surgery earlier this month. For now, she's using a wheelchair to get around.

But when she got the invitation to be part of the State of the Union, it was an honor she couldn't refuse. Despite leaving the hospital just last week, she wanted to make the trip.

Munley says she'll be sitting beside the first lady as the president delivers his speech.

“She put her life on the line for all of us, and she certainly did serve our country greatly,” Hagan said. “I told her this morning that we are definitely grateful for her efforts on behalf of the nation and especially North Carolina.”

Despite the attention she's getting, the mother of two remains humble. She quickly pointed out that she's in Washington on behalf of all the first responders that selflessly put their lives on the line to help stop the shooting.

After the address, Munley will continue her rehab in Texas. As soon as she feels well enough to travel more comfortably, she plans to make a trip home to North Carolina to thank everyone who has supported her.
